Actually, when those mammer jammers stop working, they STOP WORKING. I once watched a fall backwards when and elevator abruptly stopped and someone tried to catch her. That person also fell and ended up paralyzed. That shit’s serious. It makes me feel like Brodie in “Mallrats” when I think about it.
Just for the record, the Dupont Circle escalator is way long and very steep. It doesn’t make this any more newsworthy but when he says kids were falling, but they likely falling down a few dozen sharp steps.
Either that was one fast escalator, or those were some drunk-ass kids.

“I wanted to go down, but the steps just kept going up. IT WAS HORRIBLE!”

“Now, I elevate.” That’s the best!

“An escalator can never break down, it can only temporarily become stairs”- Mitch Hedberg
Sorry for the convenience.
He may have thought they meant “Escalade” mishaps. Which makes the falling kids and stepping over bodies more interesting.
I wonder why he didn’t stop to help people rather than walk over them.
Because in DC it’s every man for himself. Helping people is against the law there.
^Especially if you are in Congress.
People in DC are a different breed. That escalator is always broken. It’s like they get confused on what to do when it stops.
THAT was the worst experience of his life?
Either he’s winning at hyperbole, or winning at life in general.
